The HTA is responsible for the development, management and coordination of various plans to help ensure a sustainable tourism economy and achieve the state’s vision for tourism to:

Honor Hawaii’s people and heritage;
Value and perpetuate Hawaii’s natural resources;
Engender mutual respect among all stakeholders;
Support a vital and sustainable economy; and,
Provide a unique, memorable and enriching visitor experience.

DIACRITICALS recognizes the use of diacritical markings of the (modern) Hawaiian language including the `okina [`] or glottal stop and the kahakō [ō] or macron (e.g., in place names of Hawai`i such as Lāna'i).
